Upgrade your supercharger drive belt tensioner – for higher HP applications or just for peace of mind and maximized OEM performance.
The Tensioner assembly & belt routing on the JLR 3.0 & 5.0 Supercharged engines is set up in a way that doesn’t produce as much belt wrap on the upper pulley as other similar applications. Our team has noted evidence, especially on early cars, of the belts rubbing on the tensioner body even on completely original unmodified vehicles. JLR uses the upper idler pulley to clearance the tensioner body, but all this does is reduce belt contact on the top supercharger drive pulley.
Through extensive datalogging with our proprietary VAP developed system, we have seen evidence of belt slippage in boost pressure logs on many cars.
As OEM tensioners wear out this can cause problems with slippage and premature belt failure. Especially on modified applications with higher drive rates on the OEM superchargers and on higher load applications like the TVS 2300. In order to handle this load, a stronger tensioner is required.
