The 4.4 liter Twin Turbo V8 engine in the M5 and M6 packs a powerful 560-600 BHP depending on variant. The most powerful M5/M6 platform BMW has ever made. But with two huge catalyst bricks per exhaust bank, a lot of backpressure is created, increasing engine bay heat, restricting airflow and performance and limiting spool speed on the turbos. Particularly when applying ECU Tuning, the stock cats are very restrictive and an obstacle to gaining good power.
